About the Governors
The School's Governing Board has three core functions:-
Setting the school’s vision, ethos and strategic direction;
Holding the Head Teacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils;
Our constitution, reconstituted April 2019, specifies that the Governing Board shall be made up of eleven persons :-
Three Parent Governors - elected by parental ballot
Five Co-opted Governors - appointed by the Governing Board
A Staff Governor - elected by staff ballot
A Governor nominated by the Local Authority
The Head Teacher
Associate Members can also be appointed to specific roles as required to ensure the Governing Body has appropriate expertise
Two Committees report to the Governing Board - Curriculum & Standards (C&S) and Finance and Personnel (F&P)
Across the country there are around 345,000 school governors contributing to strategic development and raising standards of achievement at over 30,000 schools all governors are volunteers.
