The school council plays a vital role in ensuring that every child’s voice is heard and valued within our school community. By having representatives from each class, our children are given the opportunity to share their ideas, opinions, and suggestions about different aspects of school life, helping to shape decisions that directly affect them. Termly meetings with their classes allow school councillors to gather feedback on what is going well and identify areas for improvement, ensuring that everyone has a say in making the school a better place. These ideas are then shared in a termly meeting with the head teacher, where pupils can work collaboratively with school leaders to bring about positive change. This process encourages responsibility, teamwork, and active citizenship, teaching children that their contributions matter. The school council also discusses ways to support local and wider charities, helping pupils develop empathy and an understanding of how they can make a difference beyond their school. Additionally, they explore opportunities to enhance outdoor spaces and provision, promoting creativity, wellbeing, and inclusion for all. Through their involvement, children learn valuable life skills such as communication, leadership, and problem-solving. Most importantly, the school council empowers pupils to take pride in their school and community, fostering a culture of respect, collaboration, and shared responsibility. When children are given a voice, they not only feel listened to and respected but also become active participants in shaping a positive, caring, and forward-thinking school environment
