Computing
Our Computing Intention
At Tibberton CP School and Early Years, we want our children to have a sense of enjoyment around computing and to develop an appreciation of its capabilities. We want them to have the confidence to explore new technologies by ‘tinkering’ with software and programs, so they adapt to a constantly changing landscape of technology. We aim for the children at Tibberton to develop a range of transferrable skills, ready for their future workplace, and to be responsible online citizens.
Top Tips for Parents
Encourage Safe and Responsible Use
Talk to your child about staying safe online, using trusted websites, and knowing what to do if something makes them uncomfortable.
Explore Technology Together
Let your child show you apps, games or tools they use at school—this builds confidence and helps them practise digital skills.
Promote Creative Computing
Encourage activities like coding games, simple programming apps, digital art or animation to spark imagination and problem‑solving.
Balance Screen Time
Support healthy routines by mixing on‑screen tasks with off‑screen play, reading or outdoor activities.
Talk About Technology in Everyday Life
Point out how computers, phones, tills, traffic lights and household devices use programming to help children understand how technology shapes the world.
