Our PSHE Intention

At TCPSEY, our
PSHE and RSE curriculum is designed to equip pupils with the knowledge, skills, and values they need to form safe, respectful, and fulfilling relationships. They make informed decisions about their health and wellbeing as they progress through primary school and beyond. Our provision is inclusive, accessible, and responsive to the needs of all our pupils. Pupils are supported in understanding their personal and social development, as well as exploring the moral, social, and cultural challenges they may encounter as they grow. A key aim of our provision is to promote understanding and appreciation of British Values, and to foster respect for diversity. Pupils explore what it means to be a member of a modern, democratic, and multicultural society, preparing them to contribute positively to their communities now and in the future.

PSHE at Our School

At our school, we use the SCARF programme to teach our PSHE (Personal, Social, Health and Economic) curriculum. SCARF is a comprehensive scheme that supports children’s personal development, wellbeing and relationships, helping them to build the knowledge, skills and attitudes they need to thrive both in school and beyond.

Through SCARF, pupils learn about a wide range of important topics including keeping themselves safe, building positive relationships, understanding their feelings and emotions, making healthy choices, and developing resilience and confidence. The programme also supports children in understanding how to respect themselves and others, celebrate differences and contribute positively to their community.

To celebrate and reinforce our school values, children can receive special certificates linked to SCARF. These recognise when pupils demonstrate our key values of Safety, Caring, Aspire, Resilience and Friendship. These certificates help encourage positive behaviour, celebrate achievements and highlight the important life skills children are developing throughout their time at school.

We believe this approach helps children feel safe, valued and supported, while giving them the tools they need to become confident, responsible and respectful members of society.
